The First Congregational Church desires to be a growing congregation in the greater Parkersburg area that shares the gospel and follows Christ with a focus on ministering to children, youth, families, and senior citizens until Jesus comes back.
The First Congregational Church of Parkersburg, through the power of the Holy Spirit, shall seek to love and glorify God:
By worshiping in Spirit and in Truth
– By growing in Christ through Scripture and prayer
– By serving our church family and community
– By sharing the Gospel globally and locally
– By strengthening our marriages and families
– By fellowship in love and unity
We believe that there is One God; eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
We believe that for the lost and sinful man, regeneration by the Holy Spirit is absolutely essential.
We believe the Bible, consisting of the Old and New Testaments, to be the only inspired, inerrant, infallible, authoritative Word of God written.
We believe in the spiritual unity of all believers.
We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit by whose indwelling power and fullness the Christian is enabled to live a godly life in this present evil world.
We believe in the resurrection of both the saved and the lost; that they are saved unto the resurrection of life, and they are lost unto the resurrection of damnation.
We believe in the deity of Christ, His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in His personal return in power and glory.
